Jungkook's Four Pillars: Three Things That Hold Without a Birth Hour
This reading is published independently. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised by Jungkook, BTS, or their representatives. It contains no claim about his health, his relationships, or his future, and it is not advice to anyone about anything.
With that out of the way, here is why his chart is worth writing up.
There is a category of birth chart that is more useful than a clean one: the chart where the subject themself cannot pin down the hour. Jungkook has a clock tattooed on his arm set to his birth time, and in an interview about his tattoos he described it as "around 3:25? 3:23?" — without saying morning or afternoon. That is as close to a primary source as this kind of data ever gets, and it still leaves the most important question open, because 3 a.m. and 3 p.m. are different hour pillars and different charts.
So this is not a reading. It is a test: what can you honestly say about a chart when you are missing a quarter of it?
What is actually fixed
1 September 1997, Busan, South Korea. The date is not in question — it is public, it is celebrated annually, and no source disputes it. The hour is a different matter.
Two candidate times circulate:
- 03:23 — the earlier figure, drawn from the same tattoo comment, catalogued in Western astrological databases at a low confidence rating because the morning/afternoon ambiguity was never resolved.
- 15:25 — reported in late 2025 as having been confirmed by Jungkook during a listening-party broadcast, where he apparently clarified the tattoo clock was afternoon.
The second is more specific but rests on a translation of an unarchived livestream. The first is vaguer but traces to a recorded interview. Neither is a birth record. So we treat the hour as unknown, which is the honest position, and we test both candidates explicitly rather than quietly picking one.
Three pillars are fixed by the date:
| Year | Month | Day | Hour | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stem | 丁 Ding (Yin Fire) | 戊 Wu (Yang Earth) | 丙 Bing (Yang Fire) | unknown |
| Branch | 丑 Chou (Ox) | 申 Shen (Monkey) | 午 Wu (Horse) | unknown |
| Element | Fire / Earth | Earth / Metal | Fire / Fire | — |
| Ten God | Rob Wealth | Eating God | (Day Master) | — |
丙 Bing — Yang Fire on the Day stem. Born in the 申 Shen month, which is early autumn: Metal at strength, Fire in retreat.
Across the six fixed characters: Fire 50%, Earth 33.3%, Metal 16.7%, Wood 0%, Water 0%.
The twelve-hour test
This is the part most readings skip. There are exactly twelve possible hour branches on a given date. Instead of guessing one, we ran all twelve and recorded what changed.
| Hour branch | Hour pillar | Wood | Fire | Earth | Metal | Water | Missing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 子 Zi | 戊子 | 0 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 1 | Wood |
| 丑 Chou | 己丑 | 0 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 0 | Wood, Water |
| 寅 Yin | 庚寅 | 1 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 0 | Water |
| 卯 Mao | 辛卯 | 1 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 0 | Water |
| 辰 Chen | 壬辰 | 0 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 1 | Wood |
| 巳 Si | 癸巳 | 0 | 4 | 2 | 1 | 1 | Wood |
| 午 Wu | 甲午 | 1 | 4 | 2 | 1 | 0 | Water |
| 未 Wei | 乙未 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 0 | Water |
| 申 Shen | 丙申 | 0 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 0 | Wood, Water |
| 酉 You | 丁酉 | 0 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 0 | Wood, Water |
| 戌 Xu | 戊戌 | 0 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 0 | Wood, Water |
| 亥 Hai | 己亥 | 0 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 1 | Wood |
Now the findings, sorted by how much they move.
Holds in all twelve
1. The Day Master is 丙 Bing, Yang Fire. Obvious — the hour pillar cannot change the day pillar on this date — but worth stating, because everything else is measured from it.
2. The chart is weak. In all twelve cases. The reason is structural and has nothing to do with the hour: 丙 Fire born in the 申 Metal month is Fire in the season it loses. Autumn is when Fire hands over to Metal. The month branch carries the heaviest weight in the strength calculation, and it says weak every time.
3. Wood and Water never appear together. Read the two columns down. Every row with Wood at 1 has Water at 0. Every row with Water at 1 has Wood at 0. There is no hour on this date that produces both.
That third finding is the one worth dwelling on, and it is the one that only becomes visible when you run all twelve instead of assuming an hour. In Ten Gods terms, it has a precise consequence:
- Wood is Resource for a Fire Day Master (木生火). Resource is support, learning, being sustained.
- Water is Authority for Fire (水克火). Authority is pressure, structure, being governed.
So this chart, regardless of birth hour, has either a channel of support with no external authority, or a channel of external authority with no support. Never both. That is not an interpretation — it is a property of the date.
Does not hold
4. "No Water." True in eight of twelve hours; false in four (Zi, Chen, Si, Hai), where a single Water unit appears. So "zero Water" is a two-thirds claim.
5. "No Wood." Also true in eight of twelve, false in four (Yin, Mao, Wu, Wei).
6. Earth's share. It ranges from 2 to 4 of 8 units. The unqualified statement "Earth is 33%" is a statement about the three fixed pillars only.
7. The dominant element. Fire leads in ten of twelve hours. In the Chou and Xu hours, Earth reaches 4 and ties or overtakes it.
Notice the shape of that. The two headline facts about this chart — missing Wood, missing Water — are each only two-thirds reliable. A reading that announces "Jungkook has no Water" is stating something that is true at 3 p.m. and false at 1 a.m. And because Wood and Water are mutually exclusive here, announcing both is announcing something that cannot be true at all.
丙 Bing Fire: the sun
The Yang version of Fire is a different substance from the Yin version.
丁 is a lamp — small, directional, needs fuel, works by proximity. 丙 is the sun — indiscriminate, self-sufficient, radiating whether or not anyone wants it to. Classical texts state it plainly: 丙火猛烈,欺霜侮雪 — "Bing Fire is fierce; it overpowers frost and insults snow." It does not negotiate with the cold. It simply outshines it.
For a person, the structural meaning is not "extroverted." It is: a light source that does not depend on being lit. A Bing chart does not wait for conditions. Its failure mode is not darkness but exposure — a sun with nothing to shine on, or a sun burning in a season that has no use for it.
Here, it is burning in the Metal month.
丙午: the Day pillar sits at its own peak
The Day branch is 午 Wu — the Horse, midsummer, the peak of Yang Fire. For a Bing Day Master, 午 is the 帝旺 position in the twelve life stages: the absolute maximum.
It is also the 羊刃 — "Yang Blade" — the branch that represents the most concentrated, least controlled form of the Day Master's own element.
So the Day pillar reads: Yang Fire sitting on its own blade, at its own peak.
Now put that next to the second finding. The Day Master is weak by season, but rooted on a blade. Those are not contradictory; they are two different measurements of very different things.
- Weak means the month does not support it. Fire born in autumn is out of season.
- Rooted on a blade means the self is unusually concentrated regardless.
A chart that is weak and also sits on its own blade is a specific shape: not enough environmental support, and more than enough self. The classical reading of 日坐羊刃 is that it produces intensity, refusal, and a tendency toward extremes. The classical warning is that a blade with no counterweight cuts its owner.
Whether this chart has a counterweight is, notably, one of the things the missing hour decides. Which brings us to the two candidates.
The two versions, side by side
| 03:23 (Yin hour) | 15:25 (Shen hour) | |
|---|---|---|
| Hour pillar | 庚寅 | 丙申 |
| Wood | 1 (12.5%) | 0 |
| Fire | 3 (37.5%) | 4 (50%) |
| Earth | 2 (25%) | 2 (25%) |
| Metal | 2 (25%) | 2 (25%) |
| Water | 0 | 0 |
| Hour Ten God | Indirect Wealth | Rob Wealth |
Both versions keep the Day Master, the weak score, and the absence of Water. They differ in one substantive way: the 03:23 version has a Wood root in the hour branch; the 15:25 version has none.
That single unit of Wood matters more than its size suggests, because Wood is Resource for Fire — the element that feeds the Day Master. The 03:23 chart is a Bing Fire with one narrow supply line. The 15:25 chart is a Bing Fire with a second Fire on the hour stem instead: more of itself, no supply.
Which is "better" is not a question this system answers honestly. The two configurations describe different shapes: one supported, one amplified. Anyone claiming to know which is correct is claiming to know a thing the subject himself stated with a question mark.
Eating God on the month stem
One element that is fully fixed regardless of hour: the month stem is 戊 Wu — Yang Earth, which for a Bing Fire Day Master is 食神 Eating God.
Eating God is the gentle Output star. Where Hurting Officer rebels, Eating God nourishes — it is associated with craft, enjoyment, steady production, and the kind of talent that does not need to break anything to exist. It is, classically, also the star of food and of comfort.
For Bing Fire, Earth is the natural output channel (火生土). So the most prominent fixed tenet of this chart is: a sun that produces Earth. Not rebellion — production. Steady, warm, generative.
And note the mechanical constraint: Output drains the Day Master. For a weak chart, output is expensive. The Eating God on the month stem is the chart's clearest function and also its clearest cost.
What this reading cannot do, and why that matters more here
It cannot be a reading of a person. This is not boilerplate. Jungkook is 29, alive, working, and reading his chart as though his life were settled would be both wrong and rude. Everything above is a description of six or eight characters.
It cannot predict. No part of this system has demonstrated reliable predictive accuracy, and a chart with four unknown variants has even less standing to try.
It cannot tell you which time is right. We tested both candidates and presented both. The 15:25 claim is more specific and more recent; the 03:23 figure is older and vaguer. Neither is documentation.
It cannot survive treating the missing hour as a rounding error. As shown: two of the most repeated claims about this chart — no Wood, no Water — each fail in a third of the possible days. And taken together they cannot both be true.
One limit specific to this case: the fixation on the hour is not only a data problem, it is a modelling one. Korean saju practice and Chinese BaZi practice apply the true solar time correction differently — Korean engines commonly shift clock time by roughly half an hour to approximate solar time at the birth longitude, and near a branch boundary that shift can move the chart to the previous day. So even "15:25 confirmed" carries a second layer of uncertainty that most English-language readings ignore entirely.
The chart in one paragraph
Yang Fire, the sun, sitting on its own blade at midsummer's peak — and born in the month Fire loses, in a chart that is weak by season and intense by seat. Fixed: 丁丑 year, 戊申 month, 丙午 day; Eating God on the most visible stem; a chart in which Wood and Water can never both exist, so support and external authority are strictly either-or. Unknown: everything else. Whether that missing quarter adds a supply line or a second sun is a question the subject himself answered with a question mark, and any reading that resolves it confidently has stopped being careful.
